Do you want to know how to turn on and use emoticons on an iPhone?
Did you know that the little smiley faces known as emoticons are built right into your iPhone? Emoticons have become pretty popular as a fun & quick way to convey emotions in a text message or email, and if you follow along with this simple step by step guide, you can easily turn them on on your iPhone or iPad and join in the fun too!
How to turn on emoticons on an iPhone…
If you’ve ever used a colon and a parentheses to make a (smiley face) in an email or text message, then you already know what an emoticon is. What you might not know, is that your iPhone, iPod, and iPad all come with the ability to use these emoticons built-in!
Before you can start using emoticons in your emails and text messages, you’ll need to turn on that feature in your settings menu.
To make it easy for you, I put together a quick and easy guide, so follow along, and in just a few simple steps you’ll be using emoticons like a pro!
To turn on & use emoticons on an iPhone, just follow these steps:
- Open the ‘Settings’ app
- Tap on ‘General’
- Tap on ‘International’
- Tap on ‘Keyboards’
- Tap on ‘Emoji’
- You have now enabled the Emoji, or emoticon, keyboard on your iPhone. To use it, when your keyboard appears, tap the globe icon to switch keyboards.
- Your keyboard will now switch to the Emoji or emoticon keyboard. From here, you can select and use these emoticons as you wish!
Once you’ve added the Emoji keyboard on your iPhone, you can use emoticons in any application. You’ll simply be able to tap on the globe icon as shown above, and then use your new emoticons to type with.
There are a lot of different icons to choose from, spend a minute or two browsing through the categories by tapping on the icons on the bottom row and familiarize yourself with all the icons you can choose from. Have fun!
