Do you want to know how to tag someone on Instagram?

Instagram is by far one of my favorite social media platforms (if you haven’t already, you can check out my previous article on how to sign up for Instagram), and part of what makes Instagram such a great way to share your photos is being able to instantly share your photos with friends and family and tag them in your photo.  You may already be familiar with how to tag one of your friends in a picture on Facebook, but did you know you can also tag someone on Instagram too? Read on to find out how!

How to tag someone on Instagram…

To tag someone on Instagram, you would just need to type “@” followed by the Username of the person you want to tag in the caption field of your photo before you post it. When you tag someone on Instagram, that person will receive a notification that they were tagged in your photo, and they are then able to view the photo you tagged them in.

If you look at the photo below, you can see how I tagged my wife, by typing “@cksabellico” in the caption field of the photo before I posted it. It’s important to note that in order to tag someone on Instagram, that person would need to already have an Instagram account.

Another good use of the “@” symbol on Instagram is when you comment on a picture.  If you’d like to make sure someone specific sees your comment or even when you reply to someone else’s comment, you can use the “@” symbol with their Username just like above, and the person you tagged will receive a notification that they’ve been mentioned.
